You don’t have to be an A-student in order to be a successful leader and/or business owner.

Overton Leadership Associates is focused on motivating young adults ages 17-25 to pursue their destiny. While we feel that it’s better to get a college degree first, a degree is not a requirement for achieving success. If you were not an A-student in high school, don’t worry, you can still become quite successful. High school is not real life so avoid using your high school experience as a guarantee of your future. It’s true that the knowledge acquired and the willingness to learn developed in high school are important, but in the real world, your work ethic, commitment to worthwhile endeavors, and steady consistency will enable you to be a successful leader and business owner.

Yes, the elite A-honor roll students and athletes will get all the attention and accolades, but they are not the only people who have success stories. The difference is, that you may have to ask non-celebrities about their success stories and then be willing to sit down and listen. Think about the all the plumbers, carpenters and handymen, the daycare center employees, food and beverage service employees, bus and taxi drivers, the electricians and HVAC technicians, all the junior enlisted military troops, what about the street and sanitation workers who have worked outside for 12 years? We all know great auto mechanics and I am amazed by the people who work as caregivers, custodial workers, in forestry and in package delivery. Those men and women built families and purchased homes by working hard, day shift and night shift plus all those weekends. I detailed all those professions (and there are many more that I didn’t mention) because I want you to know that success is not necessarily about money or fame. Success is about making a difference in the lives of your family, your community, and in the organizations in which you chose to join. Therefore, it’s up to each individual to choose the right path to success whether that be the college graduate path or the career-ready path. It doesn’t matter which path you take, just always deliver your best effort.

One final thought…If you have decided that college is not for you, yet you are willing to do the sustained hard work necessary to become successful, then click on our Free Download called, “Ways to Make Money—Without Going to College.” This 1-page download lists more than 50 job titles that can result in your becoming a successful leader and/or business owner. Whether it be by starting with a college degree or by working some of the job titles listed on the free download, it’s your life, so take ownership of it and point yourself in the direction of success!
